The safaris pay for the school
This company was started to replace funding that disappeared. That is the whole arrangement, and we would rather state it plainly than dress it up.
What exists
Titus and Annitah founded the Kigezi Orphan Children Charity at Lake Bunyonyi in 2016. It cares for around 120 children and it runs Greater Kigezi Primary School, which the home started itself. Children who came through it have gone on to secondary school, technical institutions and university.
What went wrong
The home was supported by foreign sponsors. After Covid those sponsors withdrew, and the money did not come back. Anyone who has worked alongside small charities in East Africa will recognise the pattern: funding that is generous, genuine, and structurally fragile because it depends entirely on other people's continued attention.
Why a safari company
Because Titus already knew how to do it, and because a business is the one form of funding that does not require anybody's continued goodwill. If the safaris are good, the money arrives. If they are not, it does not, and that is a problem he can actually work on.
It also means the incentive points the right way. You are not donating. You are buying a safari from people who will run it well because a great deal depends on them running it well.
The share of profits
We are going to publish a specific figure — the percentage of profit that goes to the home — and then honour it. We have not published one yet because Titus is setting a number he can hold to in a bad year as well as a good one, and a promise made loosely on a website is worse than no promise at all.
What we will not do
No trip visits the children's home. No exception, ever. Not as an add-on, not as a half-day, not for guests who ask nicely and mean well.
Orphanage tourism harms children. A stream of visiting strangers forming brief attachments and leaving is damaging in ways that are well documented, and it creates a demand that, elsewhere in the world, has pulled children into institutions who had families. We are not going to participate in that, and the fact that the home is ours makes us more strict about it rather than less.

If you want to help directly
The most useful thing you can do is take a safari, because that is the mechanism the whole thing rests on. If you want to do something beyond that, talk to Titus directly rather than through any page on this site — we are deliberately not running a donate button inside a booking flow.
