The Kigezi Classic
Straight to the gorillas and back, with two nights on Lake Bunyonyi. The shortest honest way to do this, and the one that starts on our doorstep.
A proposal, not yet confirmed
We have sketched this short trip because people keep asking for one, and it uses only places and lodges we already work with. Titus has not yet confirmed the detail or costed it, so treat the days below as a shape rather than a promise — and tell us if it is the shape you want.
Four days is enough if the gorillas are the point and you have not got a fortnight. Fly into Kigali rather than Entebbe — it is usually cheaper and far closer — and you are at the forest the next morning. This is our home ground, so there is no long transfer at either end.

Day by day
- Day 1
Arrive at Kigali or Entebbe, drive to Lake Bunyonyi
We meet you at the airport. From Kigali the drive to the lake is short; from Entebbe it is a long day, so if you can choose, choose Kigali. Evening by the water.
Overnight: Bunyonyi Overland Camp
- Day 2
To Bwindi
A relaxed morning on the lake — a boat among the islands if you want one — then the climb up to the forest edge in the afternoon. Early night before the trek.
Overnight: Bakiga Lodge
- Day 3
Gorilla trekking, then back to the lake
The briefing at the visitor centre, your group allocation, and out with the rangers. Anything from forty minutes to six hours of walking, then one hour with the family. Afterwards we drive back down to Bunyonyi, which is the right place to spend the evening after a day like that.

Departure
A slow morning if your flight allows it, then the drive back to Kigali or Entebbe.

About the gorilla permit
The permit is included in the price and bought in your name from the Uganda Wildlife Authority — currently USD 800 each for foreign non-residents, less in April, May and November. We pass it through at cost and send you the reference number so you can see it is real.
UWA takes full payment when the permit is booked and does not hold them, so a trek is only confirmed once the permit is paid. How permits work →
